A Clean(er) Shamrock Shake

The return of the Shamrock Shake at McDonald’s is the best time of the year for some of us. Personally, my sweet tooth kvells at the very thought. This year I was determined to make my own – but a healthier, tastier, and guilt-free version. I stumbled across this recipe via the Daily Burn and couldn’t resist putting in my own slight twist.

Clean Shamrock Shake

2 cups nonfat, no-sugar-added vanilla frozen yogurt or ice cream
1/4 cup skim milk
1/2 small avocado, peeled and pit removed
1/4 teaspoon mint extract
1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
2 tablespoons fat-free whipped cream (I mean, seriously. Control yourself!)

  1. Let the frozen yogurt sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften up a bit.
  2. Combine frozen yogurt, skim milk, avocado and mint extract in a blender and mix until smooth.
  3. Top with whipped cream.
  4. Melt dark chocolate chips and drizzle over shake.

A festive dessert that you can eat AND enjoy guilt-free too? That’s what I call getting lucky. Hope everyone had a great St. Paddy’s day!
