The return of the Shamrock Shake at McDonald’s is the best time of the year for some of us. Personally, my sweet tooth kvells at the very thought. This year I was determined to make my own – but a healthier, tastier, and guilt-free version. I stumbled across this recipe via the Daily Burn and couldn’t resist putting in my own slight twist.
2 cups nonfat, no-sugar-added vanilla frozen yogurt or ice cream
1/4 cup skim milk
1/2 small avocado, peeled and pit removed
1/4 teaspoon mint extract
1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
2 tablespoons fat-free whipped cream (I mean, seriously. Control yourself!)
- Let the frozen yogurt sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften up a bit.
- Combine frozen yogurt, skim milk, avocado and mint extract in a blender and mix until smooth.
- Top with whipped cream.
- Melt dark chocolate chips and drizzle over shake.
A festive dessert that you can eat AND enjoy guilt-free too? That’s what I call getting lucky. Hope everyone had a great St. Paddy’s day!
