Pre-Made Frozen Smoothie Packets

spinach-leaves

To get ready for bébé Lemere I dedicated an entire weekend to meal prep. People, it was nesting on steroids.

Picture it: Me. In my kitchen making meals on meals to freeze to have food on hand once we were on child lockdown.

I was a culinary goddess. My husband was out of town, so he wasn’t even around to witness the splendor that was me elbow deep in dishes with a topknot the size of my bump propped precariously on top of my head. Probably for the best, as I surely would have had to beat him off me with a rolling pin…

While it was an exhausting couple of days that required THREE, yes count, THREE trips to the grocery store, it was so worth for a little peace of mind we wouldn’t go hungry whenever this little one decided he was going to enter the world.

Disclaimer: My freezer has NEVER been this full.

Question: Does anyone know of any photography awards? I’d love to submit this picture. It’s so aesthetically pleasing and artful…

I shared this picture on Instagram and received so many comments regarding the pre-made smoothie packets. Sharing is caring, so of course, I’ll disclose. However, I use the word “recipes” loosely since it’s literally putting shit in a Ziplock.

Tada!

Any classically trained chef knows you need to TEST your creation to make sure it’s as good as you think it is.

Obviously, in this case with Green Smoothie Packet A, it was.

I know, another astonishing photograph. iPhones are truly magical.

Because the packets are frozen, you don’t need to add ice. In this smoothie, I let the packet thaw for about 10-ish minutes before I dumped into my Vitamix. I eyeballed the water, maybe two cups, and added Vital Proteins Collagen Sports Greens for protein and a little chocolatey sweetness. The extra boost of protein is seriously needed since my pregnancy diet is favoring carbs in a mad, mad way.

I ended up making about 30 of these packets for less than $75 so whether you’re pregnant or not, nesting or not; it’s a super economical way to get your daily servings of fruits and veggies.

Oh! Before I forget, this is NOT a sponsored post. But, my gal pals at Vital Proteins did send me the Collagen Sports Greens as a gift. TBH, I’m way too high maintenance to talk about something I don’t love, so while the product was a courtesy, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
