I want to break down what may be your biggest problem with your fitness life: ALWAYS STARTING OVER.
Aren’t you sick of it?
I want to establish two facts, rooted in data.
The fitness industry sustains itself on your ability to feel like a failure, and the thought that if you keep purchasing and consuming, you’ll find success… eventually. The market is projected to grow from USD 131.31 billion in 2025 to USD 244.70 billion by 2032, thanks to OUR collective spending.
Everything you see, read, scroll past, and click on is designed and engineered to hit the most reactive part of your brain and make you think, this is the thing. Everything you see, read, scroll past, and click on is Buy this. Fix it. Start over. Become someone new.
We’re not just sold products, but rather relief, control, and the ever-popular version of “you” that finally has their shit together.
That’s advertising, baby.
And it works because it speaks directly to the part of you that’s tired of not feeling like you’ve figured it out yet. The economy runs on that tension. Period.
Okay, now that that’s established. Let’s move on.
I’m sorry, but that’s the truth. And that’s where I come in. Your big sister.
You quit your last plan because something came up. Pick a reason. And instead of re-entering like a normal, stable person, you burned the whole thing down. Again.
Starting over feels like productivity and actionable change, but it’s mostly just a dopamine hit. New plan, tracker, outfit, vibe. A new everything! And it lasts for like…6 days. Because starting is easy!!!! It doesn’t require anything from you! A click, a purchase, the illusion of control. The middle? The middle is where your brain starts negotiating. And that’s when the wheels fall off.
You’re tired. Your kid didn’t sleep. Work is chaotic. You missed Tuesday. Shit! And suddenly it’s: “Well, now the week is off. “I’ll just restart next Monday.”
Translation: “I don’t want to sit in the discomfort of being imperfect.”
So you restart.
Once you hone your fitness literacy and actually understand what’s up, you don’t have to PURCHASE our way out of our anxiety, but rather use logic to move forward.
Your body doesn’t know, nor does it care, that you were supposed to do upper body on Wednesday, and now it’s Saturday. if it’s Monday. Thursday. Day 17 of your program. Your body doesn’t know nor does it care that you were supposed to do upper body on Wednesday, and now it’s Saturday.
All of that is a made-up structure that’s meant to help you differentiate day and time, but instead, imprisons you!!!!
Here are some facts about your body:
There’s a part of your brain that literally acts like a built-in clock. It does not care if it’s Monday or Saturday; it’s just running the show on when you should be awake and when you should be asleep.
Throughout the day, a chemical called adenosine builds up in your brain. The longer you’re awake, the more of it you have. That’s what creates sleep pressure. Not your calendar. Not your schedule. Your biology.
You don’t need to detox or cleanse your body because you have a liver. And you don’t need to live and die by your inanimate fitness program because you have a metabolism, hormones, and an immune system.
Your body recognizes the difference between morning and evening, but it does not know if it is a Tuesday or a Saturday. Your body responds to lightness, darkness, chemical reactions, and stress. Not your Google Calendar or the fitness program you bought from an uncredentialed fitness influencer. And they are…for the most part…all…uncredentialed. Oop!
The fitness industry wants your money and depends on your inability to understand your body and manage your own discomfort to sustain itself and thrive.
Now we’re clear.
The industry profits off your confusion. And your pattern is restarting instead of understanding.
Which means YOUR solution is not another program. It’s learning how to think.
Because the people who actually get results? They don’t keep starting over. They just keep going. No matter what.
That’s the skill. They can sit with their own discomfort regarding interruptions and recognize those feelings don’t have to dictate their lifestyle and choices. That skill doesn’t happen in the gym, in an app, or on social media.
You don’t need another program. You need a therapist.
And once you have that, you stop being someone the industry can sell to every 6 weeks and start being someone who actually changes.
Finally.
