I’ve been seeing lots of fun manis on Instagram and have heard about “gel overlay” – no chip on steroids?? I’m intrigued but it took me years to even get a no chip – I’m always worried about ruining my nails! What is everyone’s go to mani style these days. Kate you just posted about yours!

I have never had the patience for the commitment frequent manis in the salon takes haha. But I recently found these gel stick-on nails at Target and found I really like them! They last about a week for me before they start peeling and they feel like a gel mani. The same brand just released a version that you actually cure with a light and I’m hoping to try!

OMG I’m so sorry I missed this post in my postpartum haze.

I’m OBSESSED with the gel overlay – it’s what I get. Basically, from my understanding, there is a layer of gel that is “cured” right to the nail bed itself, then the no-chip or gel polish, and then a topcoat. It looks SUPER CLEAN and literally perfect. Mine last anywhere from 4-6 weeks usually. I ALWAYS wear gloves when I do dishes and try to keep my hands and cuticles moisturized.

I’ve never done the extensions but gel extensions are a healthier way to add length/shape to a nail as opposed to a full set of acrylics.

I’ll make a separate post of where to get mani’s in Chicago if you’re local or visiting! xo

What is removal like from gel overlay? I just took a break from a month of no chip manis and now my nails are sooo brittle – my least fave part of a no-chip!!
