    Hi! My name is Brittany and I live in Downtown Chicago. I’ve been following Kate’s instagram for a while and love her no-BS style.

    I am newly engaged and want to feel strong and confident on my wedding day in two years. But that’s really just the catalyst to get the ball rolling….I’m mainly here because I want to start prioritizing self-care.

    During peak quarantine/lockdown, I lost 20 pounds because all social distractions were removed. Upon Chicago reopening, I quickly gained most of that back by going out for drinks with friends, eating out when traveling, etc. That yo-yoing has really taken a toll on my confidence. I was so proud of myself for losing that weight, and then even harder on myself for gaining it back right after getting engaged. I’m sure that happened because I didn’t have sustainable habits in place for long-term change, and that’s what I’m here to learn!

    I’ve also had a hard time with committing to consistent gym routines, or even knowing where to begin when entering a gym (I was raised on “cardio is king – just strap yourself to a treadmill/elliptical for an hour a day and you’ll be good”). I’ve also have been guilty of going from zero (not working out at all) to 100 (barry’s classes) and then losing motivation because performing well felt unattainable. Now I have two years before getting married and want to lay the groundwork and commit for good!

      I am SO glad your here and think next months lecture (Food Legality) and December’s (Yo Yo Dieting Explained) will be so interesting to you. Congrats on your engagement AND putting yourself first ma. ♥️

    Hi! I’m Katie from the Chicago Suburbs (still mourning moving out of the city 5 years ago now!) I had a trainer tell me once “You can’t outrun your fork” and although I’m aware of the behavior, it’s still my mindset! Or I’ll try an extreme calorie deficiet all day just to binge in the pantry after work. Very all or nothing mindset. I’ve met my goals with the “all mindset” but always eventually burn out. Looking to break free of diet culture and create good habits. I’m an attorney and mom of 3 just trying my best to raise kind and inclusive little humans (5, 3, 8mos) without losing my sh*t on the reg 🙂 (open to any and all tips on this as well!). Kate – I love your approach, advice, knowledge and sense of humor with life!

    Hi! I am Ashley and I live in Grand Forks, North Dakota!

    I joined this community for the “community,” aspect, to be able to continue to learn more in depth from Kate on this platform, and to stay connected to others with similar interests in the overall health and wellness space! I love Kate’s delivery of messages and she has really taught me how to point out BS fad diets and have helped me learn more about improving my relationship with food and with working out—hello rest days, I did really need to incorporate you back into my life 😉

    Fun Fact: I was bork and raised on the Northwest side of Chicago and moved to ND in 2004 to attend the University of North Daktoa. With a 2008 job market that was nonexistent, I stayed put in ND, found my dream job, husband who I married last year, and created a great life here.
    I do go through spurts where I really miss city life, but can travel easily and day to day, no traffic ever is a major plus! *I will be in Chicago this year for NYE and am hoping you are on the Barry’s schedule Kate, so I can meet you in person!! 🙂

    Hi!! I’m Katie. I live in Washington, DC with my husband and two dogs. I have worked in politics for the last 10+ years. I’m here because I’m exhausted. Diet culture- the lies- the fake crap- the fads all of it. I’m looking for real strategies to be successful and love Kate’s real talk style. I’m kind of a yo yo–er, in that I make gains and then experience setbacks when work gets too crazy etc. trying to break that cycle. I’m 36 and it’s getting harder, but I’m feeling determined! Kate – your education on all or nothing mentality and consistency really resonate with me. Thanks to everyone else for sharing your bios and thanks to Kate for creating this environment and anti- bs environment for people who really want to make progress – especially while raising two small humans.

    Hi everyone! I’m Kelly and live in downtown Chicago, and just signed up today. I’ve been involved in fitness for ~10 years, whether doing fitness competitions, being a spin instructor, and now becoming a Barry’s addict 😉 . I’m looking to join a community that has great ideas to share and discuss around health and fitness — I turned 40 last year and am navigating new goals for my mind and body. I also just had my 5th knee surgery last week, so some of the monthly topics were interesting to me, too.
    Fun Fact :: even though I was a spin instructor for 3+ years, I have never ridden a free-standing bicycle ????
