Nice to Have Kitchen Gadgets

Kitchen-essentials

Fahk, this post was so hard to write because I couldn’t decide what to call it for a really long time.

Here are a few of the alternate titles for this post:

  1. What to Buy When You Don’t Know What to do with Your Money
  2. First World Kitchen
  3. I’m Extra, and my Meal Prep is Too
  4. Privilege
  5. Shit that Will Clutter your Kitchen but Make Your Meal Preps Easier

None of them roll off the tongue, you know? But they’re all pretty accurate. Before I go any further, if you’re on a budget, check this out. I wrote that post SIX YEARS AGO when I was an infant, so please don’t judge the writing. Once you’ve built the foundation of your kitchen, this list may be perfect for you.

If you’re ready to lose your counter space, kitchen counters, and every inch of storage in your condo, stick with me.

Nice to Have Kitchen Gadgets to Make Your Meal Prep a Breeze

Instant Pot: I got rid of my slow cooker in favor of the Instant Pot, which has a slow cooker setting.

Air Fryer: Totally extra, totally amazing. You don’t NEED it. But use it once, and you’ll never want to be without it.

Milk Frother: A total luxury for your at-home coffee bar. My new obsession is frothing almond milk to top a cup of Earl Gray.

Cast Iron Skillet: I promise you, they’re not as intimidating as they seem. Save this tutorial on how to clean and care for yours, and you’ll be golden.

Salt Cellar: If it’s accessible, you’ll use it more. It’s a small accessory that makes a big difference in your cooking.

Knife Set: The set I have is discontinued, but I’d buy any of these in a heartbeat. If you’ve never prepped with a SHARP, good knife, buck up. Your life is about to change. Be safe tho. I watched this video to help me with my knife skills, and now I’m practically a pro.

Vegetable Peeler: Crucial for prepping most roasted veggies, and if you have a kid who can’t eat the skins of apples, this will save you SO much time.

Food Processor: I know it’s expensive, but I’ve had this baby four years and counting and use it 2-3 times per month minimum.

Glass Tupperware: The hero of your meal prep, as seen here.

Mason Jars: The best way to stores soups, shakes, salads, sauces, and more.

I’ve been meal prepping, and subsequently building my kitchen for MANY YEARS. I’ve invested in quality products, tools, and appliances and have had the same inventory for years and years. Start where you are. Build how you feel comfortable, and take it one week and meal at a time.

None of the above will make or break your health and fitness goals, so take these nice to have kitchen gadgets as just that. And never forget, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and your kitchen won’t be either. Like everything else, it’s a process.
