The Power of Clarity and Focus

Holy shit, am I excited to grace your screen with a collaboration with one of my FAVORITE people to grace this earth, Eva Redpath. She’s a fitness expert, motivator, brand spokeswoman, and incredible friend. Hai, bish!!! LYLAS!!!!!!

Eva and I met over six years (OMG) ago as Nike Master Trainers, and now work together as Barry’s trainers. I seriously love how our paths have continued to reconnect. When I first met her, I was captivated by her energy, her vulnerability (she was showing her raw self LONG before this was a “thing”), and her ability to captivate an audience with her words, voice, and mannerisms. I was a sponge, and I wanted to soak every ounce of her charisma up.

She is a wellness leader, an award-winning presenter, a co-Active® Life Coach. Not to mention, Founding Trainer at Barry’s Canada AND Canada’s first Nike Master Trainer. Whatta power bish.

Most recently, Eva has expanded her talents as an Associate Certified Life Coach with the International Coaching Federation, and the evolution of her content, specifically on Instagram, has left me SO inspired.

We got to talking about our clients, ourselves, our habits, and wants.

I said, “IMO, people don’t have what they want because A) we don’t know what we want and B) we struggle to manage our time appropriately to be effective. We spend A LOT of time doing things that don’t serve our end goals.”

Eva responded, “I totally agree. Once you find your focus, you unleash your ultimate power.

AND THEN I WAS LIKE, “THAT’S GOOD, TELL ME MORE.”

If you read THIS post with my life coach, Annie Nogg, you’ll see I have my own words peppered into the content, shedding light into my experience. Below is ALL Eva and gives a glimpse into the work she does with her clients. From here on out, I’ll let her take the wheel, and it’s all REALLY GOOD.

Want to understand how the power of clarity and focus can help you reach YOUR full potential? Read on to find out. Eva, take it away.

1. To find clarity and focus, start with an energy audit

There’s a difference between managing your energy and managing your time. Take time for an energy audit. How often do you check in with yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally? Start by asking yourself, am I managing my energy or my time? How do you recharge yourself? Recognize the cost of energy-depleting behaviors and then take responsibility for changing them.

2. Committing to success

There is a fundamental difference between goals and commitments. The goal is an outward, visible outcome; the commitment is the inner drive that produced the goal initially. What are your commitments? In some cases, our understanding of commitment is necessary before we can set goals. In some cases, clarifying the commitment changes the goal.

3. Think big, get exact!

Don’t hold onto anything that isn’t serving you. What might you be willing to let go of and leave behind in 2019? Visualize the possibilities. Your thinking starts with your imagination. Stop letting your fear of success or the fear of failure stop you! Think big, get exact, take action!

4. Clarity and focus = Power

Focus on what you want, what you have, and what you can control, and then go through the following visualization exercises. DON’T FORGET TO THINK BIG AND GET EXACT!

  • Future Visualization: Turn forward the clock one year from now and look at your life and yourself in your element. Where are you? What are you doing? Who is around you? What do you notice about yourself? What is your impact on others?
  • Present Focus: What is one area of your life where you want to see some positive change? What are your best hopes? What will things look like after you’ve been successful? How will you feel?
  • Power of Now: Considering that one area of your life where are you now on a satisfaction scale of 1-10? What’s one action you can take?

5. Manage your mindset

Distractions come at us, and they’re inside of us. The biggest obstacle we face, the only one we really every need to overcome is OUR MINDS and the limit we place on ourselves. In the world of coaching, this is what we call our saboteur. It’s French for sabotage, literally meaning “trying to cause failure.” Think about the voice of the saboteur as an inner critic. It’s particularly good at taking small pieces of the truth and fabricating it into a complicated self-limiting story – a reason for stopping! Or even worse, never even starting!

This voice will tell you that you’re not good enough, not pretty enough, not smart enough, that the timing isn’t right, you don’t have enough money, education, or resources to pull this off. It will even have you comparing yourself to others. I’ll tell you what – the bigger your dream is, the more you’ll hear these voices showing up.

Let’s turn it off right now. The antidote to this saboteur is YOUR VISION. Choose to look inside for the truth, as you’ll find it right there!

What is your vision for 2020?

In Conclusion: The Power of Clarity and Focus

Me again, Kate. UGH, I just love Eva. And I LOVE the work that she does. Can I get an AMEN for the part where she says, “The antidote to this saboteur, is YOUR VISION.” It’s so so true. The second we know what we want, we gain the confidence to act. I seriously read and re-read her words ten times and nodded my head with each passing sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed this post, as well as the contribution from my friend, Annie Nogg. While coaching is an investment, these are COMPLIMENTARY resources to jumpstart your thinking TODAY, in the here and NOW. I’m so inspired, and I hope you are too.

As always, DM me with any questions!
